The phytoremediation system

Atlas Kasbah's phytoremediation system is unique in Morocco. Developed by a researcher from the University of Agadir, it filters the ecolodge's wastewater using aquatic plants. This system is complemented by a terraced structure that provides UV-based filtration, thus streamlining the irrigation of the permaculture garden.

What is permaculture?

This word is a contraction of the expression "permanent agriculture," coined by two Australians, Mollison and Holmgren. It refers to a sustainable agricultural system based on a landscape architecture precisely adapted to its environment, and which takes into account the interaction between human settlement and perennial, environmentally friendly agriculture. The concept essentially replicates that of natural ecosystems, in which everything finds its place.
